SituPlaylist: Procreate

This installment of SituPlaylist is… the one where babies come from.

A friend of mine recently described my current niche taste in music as the perfect soundtrack for a sexual encounter on Jupiter. I would find it difficult to produce a better explanation, so I won’t procre- er, recreate*- the wheel here. I’ll give an affirmative head nod to that one and ever-so humbly admit I can be a hopeless romantic as well. Ain’t no shame!

My preference at the moment can epitomize this “romantic” as such. I confess I am more keen on the production side of music lately, but that isn’t to bastardize the über-talents it takes to poetically pen lyrics to a song. Writing is writing, and I should consciously make a better approach of awareness to the words in song, especially since we share an affinity for similar crafts. The lyrics to the one specified below firmly fit the bill for the topic of “love”; just look through the track titles, and you’ll see a thematic cauldron of words (love, you, us, feels, miss, stay).

And on the production side of things– a lot of these tracks will have a “future” sound to them, in what is a newer but up-and-coming movement in pop, r&b, and soul. This isn’t a motion to concretely genre-label anything either; most music produced these days infuses 3, 4, or 5 rooted genres, and some (in the blogosphere (!) even) can invent and tag their own. A few of my personal faves that emanate a sexy aura, albeit via different sounds, on the playlist whom I’d welcome you to check out in their entire discography include: Giraffage, ATU, Sango, inc.Karma Kid, Moon Bounce, and a personal amigo KAW BEATS. This list could go on and on and it’s already paining me that I’m overlooking somebody.

So whether it’s Valentine’s Day, a breezy summer dusk, or a postgame to the candlelit anniversary supper (awww), throw this one on to trigger and fulfill the human psychological, biological, inherent need for love.

What are some of your current go-to artists and sounds when puttin’ on that mood? Feel free to share the love below!
