2014 wasn’t too shabby of a year musically for your friends at Glass Duffle. We gots giddy at quite a few festivals, including Bonnaroo, Nelsonville Music Festival, Forecastle, and Fashion Meets Music Festival. But most noteworthy was our own participation in Desert Hearts’ 2 Year Anniversary Festival. Eric and Wes teamed up to shoot the official after movie, with Final Cut Luchador Eric choppin’ up the final edits on the vid. Check out the eccentric bliss here. The next Desert Hearts Festival is set for March 27 – 30, and you should be able to find all of us in attendance.
The tub has been overflowing with loads of new music for quite some time now. Along the way, it’s been humbling to be able to share some of the music that gets me through the daily life with you guys on this site. I see this specific post as an amalgamation of many of the playlists curated on here throughout 2014–namely our SituPlaylist themed–so if you’ve followed along along the way there should be some familiar faces. These tracks will only be ones released in 2014 (or at least to the best of my knowledge). Some gems were never uploaded onto Spotify, so I’ve hunted those down separately to bring you the inaugural playlist for GD using the Soundcloud platform.

Spotify, on the other hand, did some stellar stuff for their users by offering a chance to run an algorithm that creates a My Year in Music 2014, pertinent to each individual user. Check out the screen shot below for a glimpse at my own, and if you’re active on the platform, I suggest doing the same–it only takes a couple seconds. **Please note that these numbers are slightly skewed in the year of a World Cup, as “I Believe That We Will Win” will almost always take top honors. USA soccer geek status.
After much indecisiveness and time consumption, I finally sliced down the top 20 tracks (in no particular order) that were released this year. Per usual with a playlist, it’s a bit of a subjective, biased mix of sound that I hope you’ll enjoy all the same. And here’s to 2015 being even more richer, broader, and eclectic.
