Discovering California’s Coast

Who would dare to challenge California’s geographical supremacy? Just don’t do it! Amtrak‘s Pacific Surfliner starting in San Diego is a super gnarly way to take in the best of the golden west coast and after a short bus ride, you’ll find yourself in beautiful San Francisco!

The San Francisco Amtrak Ferry stop is about as convenient as it gets, right downtown and in plain view of the imposing Bay Bridge. It was my first time ever in San Francisco, so being dropped off right in the city and only having to walk a short distance to my hotel was an advantage over taking a plane since the airport is well south of the city and will run you at least a $50 cab ride.

But be prepared for San Francisco’s city blocks which seemed like they were about a country mile!

Here is the first part of the West Coast Medley w/ Amtrak series on YouTube featuring footage from the Pacific Surfliner and also the bus to San Fran. Up next is the Coast Starlight from San Francisco to Portland, OR. Be sure to like the Glass Duffle Facebook page to keep up on the West Coast Medley w/ Amtrak series and more from my travels around North America.
